Day Seven - “Write about your favorite book.”
I fucking love the book Sabriel by Garth Nix. I remember distinctly that my mother had found this book and thought that the cover was really nice. She handed it to me, saying that she thought I would probably enjoy this.
I remember reading it during a trip to Japan and staying up late reading.
I think that this is still my favorite book (and it’s the best out of the series in my opinion) because it’s about this huge journey this girl goes on in this interesting Old Kingdom world. She’s this sorcerer under the title Abhorsen, a reverse-Necromancer: someone who puts the dead that have risen back to rest.
She’s sent her fathers bells (the Abhorsen’s tools) and sword and has to return to the Old Kingdom to save her father and eradicate evil.
It’s epic and fantastic and I couldn’t put it down. Obviously, Sabriel goes through both a physical and emotional transformation and becomes a woman who is worthy to bear the title as Abhorsen.
It just gets really intense and I can’t even describe it. Just read it.
